Investigators believe a Cobb County man shot and killed his elderly mother and sister and then himself inside a Sandy Springs home, police said Thursday.

A co-worker checking on a friend who didn’t show up for work made the gruesome discovery Wednesday and called 911 shortly before 4 p.m., according to Capt. Steve Rose with Sandy Springs police.

Inside the home on Brandon Ridge, off Brandon Mill Road, police found the bodies of Edith Renner, 85, Suzanne Renner, 49, and Charles Renner, 45, Rose said Wednesday night. All three had been shot to death, he said.

Suzanne Renner lived with her mother, but Charles Renner lived in Kennesaw, according to police.

A pistol was found near Charles Renner, Rose said Thursday.

The medical examiner’s report and forensics testing were still pending Thursday. But investigators believe the three died as a result of murder-suicide, Rose said.
