Sandy Springs police are looking for the driver of a white Jeep Grand Cherokee who fled the scene of a Sunday morning crash that left a motorcyclist in critical condition.
Police said Monday that investigators are working with car manufacturers to trace parts of the Cherokee left behind at the crash site.
The Cherokee was photographed leaving the Mosaic Apartments on Roswell Road before the crash. Police believe the driver of the car dropped off a passenger at Mosaic.
The driver of the Jeep turned in front of and hit the motorcycle on Roswell Road at 4 a.m., according to Sandy Springs police spokesman Steve Rose. The motorcyclist, Alejandro Palombini, 22, of Buford, was taken to Atlanta Medical Center, where he remainsin critical condition.
Police said the suspect fled westbound on I-285. The Jeep is missing its grill and front bumper, police said.
