A man died Friday morning after his motorcycle struck the back of a van, a crash that shut down the westbound lanes of I-20 near Gresham Park for hours, police said.

Officers were called to I-20 West near Flat Shoals and Gresham roads around 2:30 a.m. and found a man dead after his motorcycle had rear-ended the van, DeKalb County police spokeswoman Michaela Vincent said. Police are withholding his name while the investigation continues.

Police did not say how the crash occurred or if anyone in the van was injured.

The westbound lanes began reopening around 5 a.m.
