A 27-year-old mother is in trouble after leaving her infant with a man who police described as a “stranger” to her while she allegedly shopped for hours at Walmart.

Police were called to a Florida Walmart to investigate a report of an abandoned child. The infant’s mother met a man through Facebook. The two had only met each other face-to-face two times before and this was the first time he met the woman’s infant.

After reportedly waiting a few hours, he left the child in the care of a Walmart customer service representative.  He wrote down a phone number and left to go to work.

The mother showed up about 20 minutes after the police arrived at the store and now faces a charge of child neglect.
