A mother and her boyfriend have been charged with felony murder for the death of a 3-year-old boy in Alabama, according to reports.
Tatyana Edwards, 26, turned herself in to the Mobile Metro Jail on Friday for her involvement in the abuse that resulted in her son’s death, the Mobile Police Department said in a report.
On Sunday, Abraham Hatch, 19, then turned himself in to Mobile Police on charges of capital murder, Fox10 News reported. Investigators believe that he caused the extensive injuries that led to the death of the 3-year-old, the news outlet said.
The child was transported to the USA Children and Women’s Hospital by Mobile Fire-Rescue on Aug. 8 after he was found unresponsive and in full cardiac arrest, the Mobile Police Department said in a report.
The child died as a result of his injuries three days later on Aug. 11, according to the report. An autopsy revealed the child suffered severe head trauma among several other severe injuries, and it is suspected that the child had been abused over some time, according to the report.
Hatch and Edwards were determined to be in a dating relationship when the abuse occurred, NBC15 reported.
