A woman whose 3-year-old son shot himself in the face while handling a gun Thursday night has been arrested on charges of reckless conduct and cruelty to children.

Angel N. Douglas, 22, was arrested Friday by Atlanta police, according to a news release. She is being held in the Fulton County jail and has no bond at this time.

The boy is in stable condition, according to police who say he may have been playing with the gun when it discharged.

The shooting happened just before 10 p.m. Thursday in the 2900 block of Middleton Road.
