You’ll want to keep your umbrella with you on Monday ― and for the first half of the workweek. A cold front will bring showers as it moves east across north and middle Georgia, according to the latest forecast.
The wet weather started early with pockets of rain moving along either side of I-20 on Monday morning, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.
“About 4:30 a.m., we were pretty much covered with rain,” he said.
While the wet weather is expected to continue throughout the day, Monday won’t be a total washout. The afternoon and evening hours are expected to be cloudy, but dryer.
“About seven of our 13 daylight hours will be dry today,” Monahan said.
The rain is expected to pick up later in the week, with the chance of precipitation climbing to 70% on Wednesday.
The soggy weather will be accompanied by cooler temperatures, Monahan said. Temperatures are expected to top out at 77 degrees on Monday, 75 on Tuesday and 64 on Wednesday.
Drivers will want to be mindful of wet roads during the morning commute. There are a few traffic hangups in metro Atlanta, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
A crash in Cobb County has one left lane of I-75 South closed at Chastain Road, the Traffic Center reported. Delays remain in the area.
