After a hot, dry start to the holiday weekend, Labor Day is expected to bring a mixture of clouds and sunshine with a chance of showers, according to the latest forecast.

A cold front moving into North Georgia on Sunday evening will bring with it an increased chance of showers overnight and on Monday, Channel 2 Action News meteorologists said.

“We could start to see a few showers popping up,” meteorologist Eboni Deon said.

That’ll make for a cooler morning on Labor Day, with temperatures starting in the high 60s.

However, that doesn’t mean we will escape the heat altogether. As the day progresses, temperatures will climb up into the high 80s, Deon said.

The morning and afternoon hours should stay relatively dry, but by Monday evening, the wet weather will be a bit more widespread through the metro area, Deon said.

Labor Day traffic should be kind to drivers, with the Georgia Department of Transportation limiting construction on major state roads.
