Although patriotism is reportedly on the decline, Georgia is one of the most patriotic states in the country.

However, when it comes to providing a place where former military service members can thrive, metro Atlanta has notable room for improvement, according to a new study.

WalletHub analyzed cities across the U.S. to determine the 100 most livable cities for veterans. The study measures 18 metrics across two categories: economic wellness and environment, education and health.

Atlanta has a relatively low overall ranking of 69, and an even lower ranking of 94 in the category of economic wellness. Even more disappointing is that the city has more homeless veterans per veteran population than any other city in the study – that’s 28 times more than Virginia Beach, which has the fewest homeless veterans.

While this paints a dire picture for vets, the city is getting it right when it comes to environment, education and health. Atlanta is ranked No. 10 in this category, which factors in VA facilities, higher education opportunities and emotional well-being.
