The Associated Press reports the first futuristic-looking Zumwalt-class destroyer sailed out of the Bath Iron Works shipbuilding facility in Maine on Monday, headed out to sea to begin testing.
The 600-foot-long and 15,000-ton destroyer has electric propulsion, new types of radar and sonar and a sleek design that helps it evade radar.
The project costs about $4.4 billion and will include three ships total.
