The body of a 17-year-old metro Atlanta girl was found Sunday in a cemetery near a Middle Georgia state park.

D’Shaunti Kyanni Hunter was discovered dead in Barnesville, about 40 miles southeast of her Ellenwood home, according to the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office. She had been shot at least once, the sheriff’s office said.

“This is crushing us. They stole from us. This is wrong. This is way more than wrong,” Hunter’s aunt, Jazmine Johnson, told Channel 2 Action News on Tuesday.

Lamar County deputies were called to investigate about 2:30 p.m. Sunday after Hunter’s body was spotted in the cemetery across from Unionville Church on Highfalls Park Road, which leads to the entrance to High Falls State Park.

A family who was visiting their mother’s grave spotted the body near the back of the cemetery.

The GBI was also called to help process the scene, the sheriff’s office said. The state agency is handling the autopsy.

Lamar County Sheriff Brad White told Channel 2 that investigators found tire tracks where Hunter’s body was located. They believe the person who killed her drove her to the cemetery.
