After two weeks of speculation about being shot, Megan Thee Stallion shared an Instagram Live that covered some of the physical and emotional scars she’s suffered due to being shot, reportedly by Tory Lanez.

Earlier this month, the “Savage” rapper was shot shortly after leaving a Los Angeles party with Lanez, who has since faced gun charges. Both musicians were in the car, but Megan was the only one injured. According to TMZ, Los Angeles police have launched an investigation that could lead to Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, being charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

Shortly after the shooting, Megan, whose real name is Megan Pete, released a short statement about the shooting, but Monday was the first time the lyricist spoke about being injured and the aftermath. She confirmed during the Instagram Live she was shot at least twice.

“I was shot in both of my feet,” she said.

The Billboard chart-topping rapper also said that though she has not pinpointed Peterson as the shooter, he was not “protecting anybody.” She said she did not want to make Instagram her diary by chronicling every detail of her life.

“Y’all take your whole life to Instagram and making it a diary,” she said.

The hip-hop star broke into tears when she began to talk about why she kept certain friends around. Her mother, Holly Thomas, died in the spring of cancer. She described her mother as her best friend, so her loss made her lean toward the wrong people. She shot down both her “fake” friends and sources who spoke about the shooting and the cause behind it during the last two weeks. She confirmed she did nothing to warrant being shot.

“You kinda try to fill your space with people that you think is making you happy,” the rapper said with her eyes full of tears. ...”Like it’s a lot.”

Being a nice person, Megan said, made her susceptible to the wrong “energy.” She said she doesn’t plan to change just because of what happened to her.

“This is not going to stop me from being nice,” she said. “But what I can’t do is keep putting my energy into a bunch of you, (expletive).”
