A MARTA train was able to stop before hitting a man on the trackway at the West End station Tuesday afternoon.

The man, whose name was not released, was not seriously injured in the incident, according to Lyle Harris, MARTA spokesman. But investigators have not determined why the man was in an unauthorized area, Harris said.

Northbound lanes were temporarily halted in the area, causing delays.

The man was transported to the hospital for evaluation, Harris said.
