Gwinnett police are investigating a shooting that wounded a man and woman Friday night.

The victims were shot in the legs and transported to Gwinnett Medical Center, according to a news release from Gwinnett County police. The identities and conditions of the victims were not available.

Police said an officer was conducting a traffic stop in the area of the Gwinnett Square Apartments when gunshots rang out.

The officer encountered the two victims sitting in a vehicle at the nearby Century Park Apartments, authorities said.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
