The man accused of shooting his estranged wife to death 10 days ago was found dead in Florida of an apparent suicide, Atlanta police said Thursday.

Dondriele Moultrie, 42, allegedly shot Melanie McQueen-Moultrie, 35, multiple times in her vehicle in front of her home on Emerald Court, off Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, on Feb. 11, according to police. Investigators were called to the home around 5:30 p.m. and found the woman dead inside of her vehicle, which traveled a short distance and struck a mailbox after she was shot, police previously told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Within hours of the shooting, police asked for the public’s help in locating Dondriele Moultrie. The following day, the man’s Chevrolet Silverado was found in an undisclosed location, but he was not inside, according to police.

The search continued for the suspect until Thursday, when Miami police contacted Atlanta police.

“We were notified earlier today that Dondriele Moultrie committed suicide around noontime yesterday next to a Miami Beach Police precinct,” Sgt. Greg Lyon said in an emailed statement.
