A 58-year-old man was recovering at Grady Memorial Hospital Thursday after being shot in the head while walking down a southwest Atlanta street Wednesday night.

According to an Atlanta police incident report, the victim, Domice Irving, was walking down Rockwell Street with a woman at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday when the pair heard gunshots.

The woman told investigators that Irving “fell and told her that he had been hit and for her to run away, which she did,” according to the report.

Another witness told police that he was standing next to a convenience store about a block away when he heard the shots, and that he saw a man get into a white, 4-door sedan with a dark top and drive westbound on Rockwell Street.

Irving was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, and was in stable condition, police said Thursday.

No arrests have been made.
