A man was taken to a hospital Sunday night after someone shot into his car while he was driving on I-285.

Atlanta police said they are investigating the interstate shooting, which happened shortly before 10:15 p.m.

The victim told police he was heading south on I-285 near Camp Creek Parkway when someone fired at his car. According to investigators, the man suffered a gunshot wound to the stomach.

The victim managed to leave the interstate and went to a location along Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway, where he called for help, police said. He told officers he doesn’t know why someone fired at his vehicle.

The man was stable when he was taken to the hospital, according to authorities. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
