Police detained at least two people after a man was shot and killed in Hall County on Saturday, officials said.

Channel 2 Action News reported the shooting happened Saturday afternoon at a home in Gainesville.

“We do know that persons of interest are in custody, so the public should not be alarmed at this time,” Gainesville police spokeswoman Cpl. Jessica Van said.

Police have not said if anyone has been formally arrested and charged.

It was unclear if the victim lived at the home on Desota Street, or if he was a guest. Police surrounded the house as neighbors looked on, the news station reported.

Desota Street resident Cicely Luster told Channel 2 that she was sleeping Saturday when she was woken up by sirens.

“I come out and it scared me, because I've never seen that many police,” Luster said. “They had guns and stuff, and people were running and telling us to get back.”

In other news:

Police said they think the shots were fired after a fight. The boys were all alert and conscious.
