The man shot in Buckhead by an Atlanta police officer has been linked to an armed robbery less than two miles away, police said Thursday. And it’s likely just the beginning of the charges the man could face.

The man, whose name has not been released, was in stable condition after being shot by Officer Terrence Epps during an altercation Wednesday, according to police. Investigators plan to show the man's picture to other victims, so they aren't ready to release his name or mug shot yet, Sgt. Greg Lyon with Atlanta police said.

So far, the suspect has been linked to an April armed robbery in the 900 block of East Paces Ferry Road, according to a police report obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. On April 29, a Buckhead man told police he awoke to the sound of someone in his apartment, the report states.

The victim told officers that when he walked into his roommate’s room, he saw a man wearing a dress shirt and black pants attempting to place items into a black shoulder bag, according to police.

“When the suspect saw him, he pulled out a gun and pointed it at him, telling (him) to go into the living room and (lie) on the floor,” the report states. “(The victim) said he begged the suspect to leave and take what he wanted. The suspect then told him no because he saw his face.”

The suspect left the apartment with a computer, but no one was injured, according to police.

On Wednesday, officers attempted to confront the same suspect, but he led them into a parking deck in the 3300 block of Peachtree Road and pointed a gun, police said.

Epps shot the suspect, who was in stable condition after being transported to Grady Memorial Hospital. The officer was placed on routine administrative leave.
