A Wisconsin man may have been making a bomb when an explosion led to the loss of his hand, WCCO reported.
Eric Kenneth Schueller, 50, of St. Croix Falls, also suffered burns to his body in the Tuesday night explosion, the television station reported.
Polk County deputies who responded to Schueller's home said they identified suspicious chemicals, WEAU reported. Bomb technicians called to the scene said there were chemicals in the residence that were stable on their own, but could produce explosive material if mixed together, the television station reported.
The Sheriff's Office said Schueller was airlifted to a hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota. His condition was unknown, WCCO reported. It is not clear whether Schueller was arrested or is facing criminal charges, the television station reported.
