The man who died Monday after a fatal shooting outside of a College Park restaurant was identified by authorities Tuesday as Kelvin Hunter, 22, of Atlanta.

About 2:40 a.m. Monday, a fight in the parking lot of the El Ranchero restaurant on Old National Highway turned violent, College Park Police Deputy Chief Ferman Williford told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“There was some sort of altercation between two small groups of people,” he said. “During the course of the altercation, the suspect pulled a small caliber handgun out and shot one of the other guys.”

Hunter was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died.

Three people are being held at the College Park jail in connection with the fatal shooting, Williford said.

Criminal charges are expected to be filed soon, Sgt. Jeff Hightower said.
