A 52-year-old man was killed Friday morning after turning into the path of an SUV, Cobb County police said.
Gary Henderson, of Lithia Springs, was driving a 2005 silver Honda Civic northbound on Kitchens Road before he attempted to turn left onto Veterans Memorial Highway, according to Sgt. Dana Pierce.
Investigators believe Henderson turned into the path of a black 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe, which was traveling eastbound on Veterans Memorial Highway, Pierce said.
“After the front of the Chevrolet struck the driver’s side door of the Honda, both vehicles came to an uncontrolled stop in the westbound lanes of Veterans Memorial Highway,” Pierce said in a press release Friday night.
Henderson was transported to WellStar Cobb Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased, Pierce said.
The driver of the Chevrolet has been identified as Gerald Garba, 26, of Atlanta, according to police. He was not injured in the collision.
No charges are expected to be filed, Pierce said. Anyone with information on the crash should contact police at 770- 499-3987.
