A Winder man has been arrested in connection with more than a dozen recent thefts in Dacula, Gwinnett County police said.
Jason Scott Jones, 37, faces more than 30 charges, including several counts of burglary and entering auto, police said in a statement Wednesday.
Police allege Jones broke into multiple businesses, including Zaxby’s, Dairy Queen, a pool supply store and a small engine repair shop.
Jones was out on bond from a previous arrest in connection with a Jan. 12 burglary on Winder Highway. He was released Feb. 2.
The latest alleged crimes began Sept. 20, when two local businesses on Franklin Drive were broken into, officials said.
The following day, officers located Jones driving a moped on Winder Highway. When they realized the moped was stolen, however, Jones ran, police said. They secured warrants for his arrest.
Since then, “several more businesses were burglarized,” according to the statement. “At most of these burglary locations, vehicles parked on the property were also broken into.”
In the Dairy Queen case, surveillance footage shows a man prying open the drive-thru window in the early morning hours of Oct. 11, before climbing in and stealing money from cash registers.
Jones was identified as the suspect using surveillance video and eventually arrested, police said.
At a Wednesday court appearance, he was granted $7,600 bond, the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office said.
