A Cumming man was arrested Wednesday and faces charges of animal cruelty after allegedly dragging a dog behind his pick-up truck.

Miguel Lechuga Sanchez, 41, also faces charges of DUI and driving on a suspended license in connection with the incident, according to a news release from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

Someone called 911 around 4:30 p.m. to report seeing a German Shepherd tied to a pick-up truck driving on Ronald Regan Boulevard, near Ga. 141. An investigator with the sheriff’s office saw the truck minutes after the call went out and stopped the truck.

The dog was rushed to an animal hospital, where it was treated for injuries to its front paws and bruising around the neck.

Sanchez was taken to the Forsyth County Detention Center and is being held in lieu of a $4,680 bond.
