Nine days after a fatal shooting on University Avenue, Atlanta police Monday announced a break in the case.

Terry Denham, 32, was arrested on a murder charge, police spokeswoman Kim Jones said in an emailed statement.

About 2:46 p.m. July 26, police officers went to the 600 block of University Avenue on a person shot call. Claude Dickerson, 29, of Montgomery, Ala., was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he later died from a gunshot wound to the head, Jones said.

“The initial investigation reveals that the possible motive is robbery,” she said.

In addition to murder, Denham was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, armed robbery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, Fulton County Jail records show.

He will have a first appearance hearing at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the jail, Fulton sheriff’s spokeswoman Tracy Flanagan told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
