Sandy Springs and Roswell officials rescued a man and child from the Chattahoochee after they fell out of a canoe Friday.

Roswell police said the man and child fell in the river at Azalea Park in Sandy Springs and floated into Roswell.

"They were located coming off the river at Habersham Waters Drive," said Capt. Steve Rose, of the Sandy Springs police department, adding, "They were wet, but OK."

Roswell police spokesman Zach Frommer , who was monitoring a scanner, said Sandy Springs officials took the call from a woman who said her husband and their child were in the water.

Roswell and Sandy Springs rescue worked together in the effort, Frommer said.
