The incident occurred Sunday night at the Hollywood store after the 21-year-old man argued with the guard, KTLA reported, citing a report by the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police said it did not appear that the man had left the store. Authorities said the shooting took place after the argument between the man and the guard escalated into a fight, KABC reported. At some point, the security guard fired his handgun, killing the man, the television station reported.

Police officials said they plan to review the store's surveillance video and are investigating the guard's use of force in the incident, KTLA reported. The guard is cooperating with police, the television station reported.
