The lockdown at Marietta Middle School, which was searched after reports of a student stabbing, has been lifted.

“All students and faculty are safe and secure,” the Marietta Police Department said in an alert just after 1:30 p.m. Monday. “Detectives are continuing the investigation into the call.”

In an earlier bulletin, police said officers “found NO students injured or stabbed and the call appears to be false.”

Despite evidence that suggests the call was false, officers searched every classroom, police spokesman David Baldwin told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
