Zaxby’s is celebrating the opening of its latest Atlanta location with prizes, giveaways and discounts leading up to Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
The new restaurant, located at 946 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SW, opened 10 a.m. Monday and gave away special deals to the first 100 guests at its ribbon cutting ceremony, according to a news release.
Construction on the location began last summer with a groundbreaking ceremony featuring Bernice King, CEO of The King Center and youngest child of civil rights pioneer Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
SJAC Food Groups, LLC owns and operates the new location, which is expected to provide about 75 jobs in the southwest Atlanta community, according to the news release.
“I grew up in a neighborhood just like this one and it’s critical to show children that look like me that they can do whatever they put their minds to regardless of their beginnings and circumstances,” SJAC Food Groups, LLC President and CEO Sterling Coleman said in a statement. “I’m here to inspire others, so I feel a personal connection to the people here and the rich heritage and tradition of this area.”
The eatery, known for its chicken fingers, wings and salads, is located near the Atlanta University Center and four historic Atlanta neighborhoods, including Vine City. Ten percent of all store proceeds from the grand opening week will be donated to charity.
