A 15-year-old boy was critically injured Thursday morning when he was hit by an SUV as he crossed a busy thoroughfare.

The teenager, whose name has not been released, was crossing South Marietta Parkway near Franklin Road about 7:20 a.m. when he was struck by a 2008 Range Rover driven by Erika Chebuhar, 41,  of Marietta, said Officer Michael Gardner, spokesman for Marietta police.

The teen was taken to Kennestone Hospital , where he was in critical but stable condition after surgery, Gardner said.

Witnesses interviewed by police said Chebuhar had the right of way through the intersection, and no charges are expected to be filed, Gardner said.
