A 9-year-old boy was hospitalized Tuesday after a swimming incident at Virginia Gray Recreation Center in Jonesboro. Clayton County police would not release the boy's  name.

According to Clayton County police spokesman Otis Willis, a person at the pool noticed the boy, who couldn't swim, was drowning. The person removed the boy from the pool and administered CPR.

The boy, who was attending a day camp at the center, was taken to Southern Regional Hospital and was later airlifted to Egleston Hospital in Atlanta, Willis said. The boy is in critical condition. The investigation is continuing.
