Wrecks shut down I-285 in DeKalb
A stretch of I-285 in DeKalb County was shut down for several hours early Friday after a pair of wrecks left one person critically injured.
The wrecks happened shortly after 4:30 a.m. on I-285 eastbound between Bouldercrest Road and Flat Shoals Parkway.
Paul Marshall, a spokesman for the state Department of Transportation, said all eastbound lanes of the Perimeter were blocked for about 90 minutes, with traffic being detoured onto Bouldercrest Road.
Authorities reopened one lane of the interstate about 6 a.m., and all lanes were opened just before 8 a.m.
One of the wrecks involved a tractor-trailer and a car, while the second crash involved a police vehicle and a car.
The truck had a ruptured fuel tank, Marshall said.
He said one person was transported to the hospital with a critical injury.
