An employee of the Intown Farmer's Market was in critical condition after being trapped under a steel container for several minutes Thursday afternoon, an Atlanta fire spokesman told the AJC.

The container, which likely weighed several tons, was used to grow organic lettuce at the market, located on Ponce de Leon Avenue, Capt. Jolyon Bundridge told the AJC. The container, similar to those on tractor-trailers, was sitting on two automatic floor jacks when one of the jacks slipped, trapping the man from the waist up, Bundridge said.

A co-worker was able to free the man, whose name was not released, after about seven minutes using another piece of equipment, Bundridge said.

Emergency responders administered CPR on the man, who was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
