The Woodstock City Council Monday night tabled a significant development proposal for a neighborhood near the Outlet Shoppes of Atlanta mall to allow more time to study the detailed proposal.
Ridgewalk Holdings sought approval for construction of a Costco Wholesale store, an associated gas station, an additional major retailer, 320 apartments and 23 single-family homes along Ridgewalk Parkway. The 68-acre proposal included two requested conditional use permits (for the gas station and apartments) as well as 44 variances and 58 additional conditions detailed by a city planner.
Council members and speakers expressed concern about the impact the development would have on traffic and overall density in the increasingly congested area, and over whether the apartments would run afoul of the city’s guideline of an 80/20 homes to apartments ratio.
The council takes up the matter again May 9.
