After receiving proposals from five solid waste operators, the Woodstock City Council has renewed its contract with Georgia Waste Systems Inc., doing business as Waste Management.

“Waste Management is the current contract holder, therefore residents should experience minimal to no changes in services,” staff said in a report to the council. “The proposed residential rate for the three-year term is $14.36 per month.”

According to its professional services agreement with the city, Waste Management will be responsible for providing solid waste collection, recycling and yard waste services to the city’s estimated 10,000 households. Curbside collections will take place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. weekly.

Among other requirements, the company will provide each residential unit with a 95-gallon roll-out cart for garbage and a 64-gallon cart for recyclables. Where the city determines no resident is able to physically take recyclable or garbage to the curb, Waste Management will provide backdoor service.
