Eighteen thermal imaging cameras, to provide firefighters with images of victims trapped or overcome by smoke, have been presented to the Woodstock Fire Department by the Woodstock Public Safety Foundation.

The presentation was made at a recent City Council meeting.

The Seek Reveal Fire Pro cameras will be attached to every self-contained breathing apparatus, officials said. Fire officials approached the Public Safety Foundation earlier this year about the need for the cameras. Municipal Emergency Services assisted the foundation with the purchase of the equipment.

“Every Woodstock firefighter will now be equipped with one of these valuable tools when fighting fires,” said Fire Chief Dave Soumas. “This will help better protect citizen lives and first responder lives as well.”
