The woman shot and killed early Tuesday at a southwest Atlanta apartment complex has been identified as Rashawn Jackson, 34, of Atlanta.
The shooting was reported about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Venetian Hills Apartments in the 1800 block of Campbellton Road, according to police dispatchers.
Channel 2 Action News reported that the victim was shot in the head after answering a knock on her door.
“We don’t believe that this is a random act,” Atlanta police Capt. Paul Guerrucci told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “We believe that whoever did this, they knew each other.”
Guerrucci said other people who were inside the apartment when the woman was shot were being interviewed by investigators.
“The other occupants were family members, and they’re very distraught right now,” he said.
He said detectives “have some degree of information as to a possible suspect.”
