Woman shoots herself in the head inside Smyrna hospital

Smyrna police Thursday were investigating an attempted suicide that happened inside a Cobb County hospital.

A woman walked into Emory Adventist Hospital on South Cobb Drive about 3:15 a.m. Thursday and shot herself in the head with a handgun, Smyrna police spokesman Michael Smith said.

The woman, who was approximately 20 to 30 years old, was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital.

Her identity and condition were not immediately available.
