A woman was seriously injured Thursday when her car collided with a dump truck on Roswell Road in Cobb County, police said.

Shortly before 7:45 a.m., a 1987 Ford dump truck that was westbound on Roswell Road attempted a U-turn, Cobb police Sgt. Dana Pierce said. A 2006 Mazda was eastbound approaching the intersection with Hood Road, Pierce said. The front of the Mazda hit the right side of the truck.

The woman was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, Pierce said. The driver of the truck was not injured.

No identities were released.
