It was a typically "tranquil" summer Saturday in an Ohio neighborhood as people gathered at an afternoon gender-reveal party that stretched into the night in the Cincinnati area.

Vehicles were parked up and down the block as tables were set up and balloons adorned the backyard of the home where the party occurred, according to a neighbor.

The tranquility was shattered around 11:30 p.m. when police responded to shots fired at the home where the party was held.

When the gunfire ended, one woman was dead and eight other people were wounded, including three children, according to police.

The victims have not been identified and detectives are working to identify and apprehend the gunmen. Investigators believe there may have been more than one shooter.

A neighbor said she heard what sounded like firecrackers and thought nothing of it because a nearby bar was planning to have a fireworks display that night.
