Atlanta police Tuesday were trying to determine who shot a young woman found badly wounded in the middle of a street.

APD spokeswoman Kim Jones said the woman was found near the intersection of Old Gordon Road and Fulton Industrial Boulevard around midnight.

Jones said a motorist saw the woman lying in the road and called for help.

The woman, who had been shot in the head, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

Police have not released a motive for the shooting. Jones said the woman did not have any identification on her.
