One person was killed and two others injured Wednesday in an early-morning fire that destroyed several units of a Cherokee County condominium complex.

The blaze broke out around 4 a.m. on Mountain View Court, in the Lake Arrowhead community near Waleska, Cherokee fire spokesman Tim Cavender said.

Cavender said arriving fire crews found eight units in two buildings fully involved in flames.

About 8:15 a.m., firefighters recovered the body of a 28-year-old woman killed in the fire, Cavender said.

The woman was identified as Whitney Luna. Her husband, David Luna, 34, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta with second- and third-degree burns. Their neighbor, 57-year-old Kathy Marcusson, was taken to Northside Hospital-Cherokee with first- and second-degree burns, said Cherokee sheriff's Lt. Jay Baker.

David Luna and the couple's 6-year-old daughter jumped from their condominium to escape the flames. The girl was not injured, Cavender said.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
