An East Point woman and her cousin were found guilty and sentenced to life in prison Monday in the shooting death of Shauna Smith's former boyfriend.
Smith, 32, and victim Brian Mosley, 29, were a couple until he caught her with another man, the Fulton County District Attorney's Office said. Mosley keyed her new boyfriend's car in anger and refused to reimburse the $800 Smith said she had paid for the damages.
She then enlisted the aid of her cousin, Gregory Eric Williams, 23, to strong-arm Mosley into paying, prosecutors say.
Mosley was found dead on the stairs outside his East Point apartment in December 2007. He had been shot in the chest and struck in the head, police said.
Clues were scarce until investigators received an anonymous tip claiming Smith had boasted of "setting up" Mosley because he owed her $800, prosecutors alleged.
Following their convictions, the two cousins were sentenced to life plus 25 years by Fulton County Superior Court Judge Ural Glanville.
