Atlanta police are looking for a suspect who beat a woman Monday morning in southwest Atlanta, ran over her with a car and may have killed another man.
Residents of Atwood Street told police they tried to stop a man from beating the woman with the butt of a rifle around 8:45 a.m. When the residents ran out of their homes and yelled at the man, he got in a vehicle and ran over the woman before driving off, police said.
Atlanta police spokesman Kim Jones said a witness told police he saw what appeared to be a dead man in the back of the suspect's car.
The suspect's vehicle, with blood inside, was later found in the 1500 block of Ezra Church Road. The body of an unidentified male suffering from gunshot wounds to the head was found in the rear of a home there, said Jones.
The woman was hospitalized but able to identify her attacker. She was in stable condition Monday afternoon.
Police have not named the suspect, but told Channel 2 he's wanted on several warrants and his file includes warnings that he has violent tendencies.
No arrests have been made.
