A man has been arrested and charged with driving a golf cart on a suspended license.

James Samuel Mason II, 25, of Terrell Trace, in Marietta, was stopped in the area of Ga. 54 and Peachtree Parkway because his tag was expired, according to Peachtree City police spokesman Lt. Mark Brown. Brown said this was Mason's third offense. He was cited twice in August.

Brown said golf cart drivers, which traveling on a public right-of-way, must obey the same laws that apply to motor vehicles.

They have to be registered with the county and have a valid tag, and operators need current insurance. This law applies whether the golf cart is on a street or the public paths that crisscross Peachtree City, authorities said.

Violating the law will result in the same penalties as failing to have a tag and insurance on your car, according to authorities.
