Barbecue chain Jim 'N Nick's is bringing a new restaurant to Snellville, and those who regularly drive by the location at Scenic Highway and Essex Drive may have noticed construction has already begun -- but when will the brisket-slangin' begin?

Soon-ish, corporate spokeswoman Rosie Pihakis said late last week.

Maybe.

"We are hoping to be open by the end of summer/early fall this year; however, as you know this is often a moving target," Pihakis wrote in an email to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

By Friday, a good portion of the restaurant's wood frame had gone up, as well as a sign announcing the restaurant's semi-imminent arrival. Jim 'N Nick's -- which has existing locations in Suwanee, Forsyth County, Conyers and Acworth, among others -- will be part of an ongoing development that already includes a Gander Mountain store and an under-construction dine-in movie theater concept from Carmike Cinemas.

The location is just around the corner from the popular Shoppes at Webb Gin shopping center.
