It was a brutal killing that has troubled Gwinnett County investigators for more than four years. Key evidence includes a confession letter comprised of letters cut from magazines and newspapers, looking something like what you'd expect from a Hollywood movie.
This week, "America's Most Wanted" will feature the story of Eva "Kay" Wenal, killed in her Lawrenceville-area home on May 1, 2008 and found by her husband, Gwinnett County police said Thursday.
Harold "Hal" Wenal was ruled out as a suspect in his wife's death and died in 2010 of natural causes before ever knowing who was behind the woman's death.
In June, Gwinnett police released the confession letter, which had been mailed to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution office in Norcross before being given to detectives. The FBI also reviewed the confession letter, which investigators believe was from the killer. The AJC reported on new evidence in the case, including photographs of a man police would like to identify, in a June story.
"America's Most Wanted" will air at 9 p.m. Friday on the Lifetime network as part of a special called "The Bold, The Bad and The Brazen."
