Las Brasas

614 Church St.

Decatur, GA 30030

65/U

A well-known Peruvian restaurant in Decatur failed a routine health inspection Monday after an official noted improperly stored foods and no certified food safety manager.

Located at 614 Church St., Las Brasas received a 65/U on its recent inspection. The restaurant scored a 97/A on its previous inspection in September 2015.

The report explains that the restaurant is required to have a certified food safety manager and has until Sept. 8, 2016, to correct the mistake. The inspector noted that the person in charge lacked “awareness in key areas of risk factor control or good retail practices.”

Menus at Las Brasas also do not include a warning advisory for the consumption of raw or undercooked meat, according to the report. Among other violations, the inspector noted different raw meats stored together and observed an employee cut boiled potatoes with their bare hands.

Management of Las Brasas was not immediately available for comment Thursday.

A follow-up inspection is scheduled for Aug. 19, 2016.
