A week after officials reported finding "raw animal blood" on dishes and a "wet mop head" hanging from a raw duck inside a Gwinnett County Chinese barbecue spot, the restaurant has failed another health inspection.

Best BBQ, located inside the Great Wall Supermarket on Duluth's Pleasant Hill Road, got a 46/U on its Monday inspection. On Dec. 5, it received a 35/U.

During the most recent inspection, officials reported finding "raw ducks stored above raw pork, raw chicken stored above cooked pork, raw ducks stored above cooked pork and raw animal juice from raw pork or duck on top of cooked pork" in the restaurant's walk-in cooler. An "insect control device" was also found above a rice storage area.

At least four different foods were reportedly being kept at improper temperatures, the inspection report said, and chicken was being thawed at room temperature. "Several dishes and utensils" were being stored as clean but had food debris on them, according to officials.

Calls to the restaurant went unanswered Tuesday morning. A woman who answered the phone following last week's failed inspection — during which inspectors reported finding pork "hanging and touching sides of [a] trash can" — hung up when asked for comment.

The eatery's permit has been suspended pending a "compliance conference" with health officials, the inspection report said.

The Great Wall Supermarket, which holds Best BBQ, is part of an aging shopping center near Gwinnett Place Mall that investors want to convert into an "Intown type of development."
