Best BBQ at 2300 Pleasant Hill Road in Duluth got a 35/U on its Monday afternoon health inspection.

A Chinese barbecue restaurant in Gwinnett County has had its permit suspended after receiving a 35/U on its recent health inspection.

Officials noted more than nine "critical" violations during the Monday afternoon inspection at Best BBQ, located inside the Great Wall Supermarket at 2300 Pleasant Hill Road near Duluth.

According to the inspector's report, a "wet mop head" was found "hanging on raw duck," and pork was discovered "hanging and touching sides of [a] trash can."

"Several containers had food debris and bowls had raw animal blood and were put away clean," the report said.

Other reported violations included chicken feet and other meat being improperly thawed; raw seafood being stored near several ready-to-eat foods; and "several" employees not wearing hair restraints.

One employee was also seen dropping a glove on the floor, picking it up and putting it back on, officials said. The "person in charge" was seen washing their hands "with no soap in the vegetable sink."

"Insect control devices [were] stored above salt, food prep areas and food items," the report said.

The restaurant had its permit suspended due to the infractions, which included "a fourth-time violation" of a rule restricting employee drinks and food in the kitchen. A "compliance conference" with health officials must be held before the restaurant can be reinstated.

Best BBQ passed several recent evaluations but received a 25/U after an inspection in May. Attempts to contact the restaurant for comment were unsuccessful Tuesday morning.
